Overview

The EVSE Design Release Engineer will lead the design, development, and sourcing for the EVSE for all relevant global markets. This role will lead in gathering, negotiating, updating, and documenting requirements for the products and will act as the single point of contact with the supply base. DRE shall ensure the product satisfies all regulatory and Canoo requirements. The DRE will also be responsible to achieve business initiatives for safety, warranty cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all coordination, communication, and consultation with relevant engineering groups and suppliers for responsible components.
  • Establishes component and system designs to meet program and timing requirements.
  • Ensures that all mechanical, electrical, software, and studio design interfaces are defined, aligned, and documented for the EVSE and its packaging components.
  • Facilitates requirements and design reviews internally and with suppliers through peer reviews, DFMEA, DVP&R.
  • Gathers and prepares relevant documents for sourcing and provides technical support during commercial process.
  • Manages suppliers to meet key milestones such as design freeze, gate reviews, validation, and release with the set targets and timing.
  • Conducts incident analyses with issue resolution as well as support warranty issue resolution.
  • Ensures EVSE integration meets Canoo DFM, DFS, and quality standards.
  • Maintains all part attributes in Catia V6/3Dexperience for the EVSE assembly and relevant components to ensure they comply to Canoo standards and system weight targets.
  • Works with commercial teams (Programs, Supply Chain) to source the EVSE from suppliers such that quality, cost targets, and schedules are met to ensure compliance to overall company goals.
  • Works with Canoo test team and supplier testing team to ensure successful testing per DVP.
  • Supports all phases development as needed from Gamma to Production for a smooth launch.
  • Documents product issues, identify RC, develop ICA and PCA in a timely manner to ensure testing and development deadlines can be maintained
  • Travels as required.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of automotive experience.
  • 3+ year of experience with CATIA V5 or V6 (V6 preferred). Additional experience using SolidWorks or related CAD tool is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in design, execution, and testing of charging systems in EV industry.
  • Proficiency in navigating global EV charging system regulations for all stages of development to production.
  • Experience in developing DFMEA and DVP&R for charging system.
  • Background in modeling, simulation, and system analysis.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong experience in integrating software, hardware, and studio design for delivering final product.
  • 5 years of DRE experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communications skills and take ownership to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronics, mechanical, and UI/UX considerations
  • Previous working experience in OEM or EVSE tier 1 supplier
  • Ability to make independent decisions with minimal input from supervisor.
