Overview

The Director, Human Resources will be responsible for day-to-day management of comprehensive / proactive HR support for all levels of employees in the Tulsa Office.  Provide leadership in the areas of onboarding, employee relations, compliance, performance management, employee communication, employee development, and manpower planning in our Oklahoma and Arkansas facilities.  Acting as the 20 to the CHRO to develop a principle based culture and developing the best-in class-employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Canoo Leadership team in standing up the Tulsa office
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition to ensure the team is meeting the hiring goals and objectives of Canoo’s hiring needs to deliver solutions for human capital challenges and priorities
  • Develop and manage onboarding programs for new hire in the Tulsa office as well as the relocation of existing Canoo employees to Oklahoma
  • Manage employee relations, training and development and offboarding
  • Support strategies that will consider succession planning, career development, and organizational development
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and state employment laws, developing effective policies and programs for employee relations
  • Oversight of HR Generalist, who will support employee onboarding programs
  • Lead all aspects of employee terminations, voluntary and involuntary, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation for high-risk cases and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and expert advice to leaders and management staff regarding human resources matters
  • Identify competencies or opportunities for improvement in skill sets that will develop a strong workforce and allow for succession planning
  • Provide performance coaching and feedback to leaders to drive high performing teams and an engaged workforce

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Extensive knowledge with local and Federal laws
  • Experience influencing and advising senior leaders on complex employment matters
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and management
  • Comfortable with being fast-paced and flexible as needs and priorities shift and change with a growing business
  • HR experience in a technology, start-up, or high growth company
  • Captures and promotes the voice and vision of executive leadership in all employee activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25 percent to other Canoo office locations

 

Preferred Experience 

  • Master’s degree with specialization in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Leadership
  • 10 years’ experience working in Human Resources at a Senior Management level
  • Experience working in a start-up or manufacturing environment
  • Passion to change the world by simultaneously bringing electric vehicles to all and improving the environment in a way that has never been done before
