We are looking for an eager, dynamic attorney to join the Canoo legal team. The Corporate Counsel will primarily provide legal advice and support Canoo on (i) commercial contract matters, (ii) technology and data related offerings, and (iii) other legal matters according to Canoo’s needs and the attorney’s skills and capabilities. In this role, the Corporate Counsel will handle a high-volume of projects, support a diverse array of corporate partners, and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

While this role reports into Canoo’s Justin, Texas office, we are open to this individual working remotely from Arkansas or Oklahoma.


  • Transactional experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting a variety of agreements, including, but not limited to, master service agreements, software licensing, consulting, intellectual property, and other various technology contracts and supplier-based agreements
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risk
  • Work with other members of the legal department and members of senior management to develop and monitor compliance with internal Company policies and procedures
  • Participate as a key partner to a wide variety of Canoo teams, including Purchasing; Information Systems & Technology; Sales; Marketing; Corporate Development & Strategy; Software & Mobile Applications; Information Security; Corporate Communications and Human Resources


  • J.D. degree with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school
  • Membership in good standing of the California, Texas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas State Bar (or registered in-house counsel)
  • Experience with software, technology, and data related matters
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Understanding of business issues and challenges
  • Flexibility to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to communicate succinctly in writing and draft correspondence relating to business and legal matters
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness and desire to take on new challenges – identify a need and find a solution.

Preferred Experience  

  • 5-7 years of transactional experience in a law firm or in-house environment
  • Experience with the automotive or technology industry
  • Knowledge and expertise in one or more specialized areas of law such as privacy, tax, intellectual property, or other areas applicable in a corporate law department
