Overview

ADAS Software Engineer for Middleware develops run time infrastructure to implement the middleware for a production grade ADAS domain controller. He or she is responsible for developing a robust, scalable and modular middleware that meets the requirements for a real time safety critical product while ensuring support from the systems engineering and algorithms teams. This engineer maintains the middleware communication stack for different processes and data transfers between multi process system on a system on chip

Responsibilities

  • Develop software strategies for implementing the middleware on top of a POSIX compliant operating system.
  • Maintain the middleware message documentation.
  • APP integration with middleware framework
  • Debug and profiling the communication in middleware.
  • Software integration testing with middleware
  • Develop interfaces between the application and operating system by leveraging best practices like DDS to meet various KPIs at the system and overall software level.
  • Properly documenting development with Middleware requirements
  • Work with external middleware component vendors to specify the requirements and develop strategies to measure the performance in real-time.
  • Work with the test and validation team to verify functional operation to technical specification
  • Investigate, debug and modify existing code
  • Work with all stakeholders to integrate final design into the vehicle or subsystem
  • Assist in the development of detailed DVP&R plans, including statistical confidence intervals
  • Ensure all product issues are identified, logged, tracked, and resolved during each testing phase
  • Effectively communicate with the rest of the organization when issues or failures arise

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in C++ programming with focus on run time infrastructure.
  • Experience in developing middleware based on ROS2, DDS and other similar technologies.
  • Experience in embedded programming for automotive
  • Experience with POSIX compliant OS
  • Experience in data structures and advanced algorithms
  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating without direct supervision
  • Professional experience in ADAS or autonomous driving applications
  • Demonstrated performance in a position requiring engineering technical excellence

Minimum 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years managerial level experience
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal effectiveness and able to manage and escalate issues to management

Preferred 

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Automotive OEM experience plus Tier-1 supplier interactions.
  • Thorough understanding of software development practices
  • Understanding of data security, data integrity and data redundancy.
  • Familiarity with network communication streams, unicast, multicast, broadcast.
  • Familiar with C++ OOPs concepts, classes, abstraction
  • Proficient with IDE design/development tools
  • Occasional travel required
