Overview

The low voltage harness DRE is responsible for product development of low voltage vehicle wiring harnesses. You will be fully responsible for delivering the harnesses in the line with program timing. The ideal candidate is extremely technically oriented with the dynamic sense of urgency and communication skills to meet project needs and development timing and will have automotive wire harness design experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (80s of the Position) 

  • Design and develop automotive low voltage wire harnesses.
  • Translate system schematics into wiring diagrams and harnesses.
  • Create 3D harness model from scratch using Catia V6.
  • Define harness partitioning depending on manufacturing assembly sequence.
  • Define harness best routing and attachment strategy.
  • Choose best inline connector strategy depending on the harness location.
  • Analyze Product definition letter to set how many part numbers are needed.
  • Create 2D wire harness print.
  • Update BOM for every build stage and assure the correct part number will be used.
  • Track weight in every harness change.
  • Work with purchasing department on creating RFQ.
  • Create purchase requests and eventually they will become purchase orders.
  • Set PDT meetings with supplier and build great communication channel to track the status.
  • Define validation plan for every part and provide update/tracking during APQP and PPAP process.
  • Support each manufacturing phase in assembly plant and set rework plan as needed.
  • Develop DFMEA and review PFMEA with supplier.
  • Meet all MRDs with quality parts.

Qualifications

Required Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years Automotive related “wiring harness” experience at either OEM or Tier-1 supplier level.
  • Knowledge of checking: Device Transmittal, System Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, and harnesses for accuracy.
  • Experience with 3D and 2D CAD software applications.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and DVP&R.

 

PreferredExperience  

  • Preferred experience with Catia V6 and Mentor Capital

 

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25% domestic/international travel required.

Salary will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, training, skillset, location, etc.  Expected salary range in CA – $104,300 - $125,100
