Overview

As a core member of the Powertrain and Electronics team, an Electronics Test Engineer participates in the development, guidance, and fabrication of equipment to support performance of tests validating the company’s variety of electronics components.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (80s of the Position)

  • Work with the Electronics Test System Engineers to develop test systems:
    • Interpret Requirements and choose electrical components and subcomponents for test systems with a focus on common practices.
    • Determine necessary requirements for components and create designs and block diagrams.
  • Assist with test system component hardware development including subcomponents and wire harnesses:
    • Develop custom equipment to support operator use cases.
    • Create component-level schematics and ensure completion of full drawing sets.
    • Work with CAD Engineers to construct complete component drawings and bills of material to support fabrication.
  • Submit part requests to System Engineers for order placements.
    • Support Electrical Hardware Engineers with verification of components:
    • Follow and execute detailed test procedures to verify operation of components and subcomponents prior to delivery--hands-on in the lab.
    • Post-process data and publish test reports to support the product development lifecycle.
    • Ensure all system issues are identified, logged, tracked, and resolved during each testing phase.
  • Support specialists helping with the creation of the test system:
    • 3D Modeling and Drawing Development
    • PCBA Development and Fabrication
    • Test Automation Development and Commissioning

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week.
  • Recent graduate or current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity working with electronic components and developing/using schematics.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments Hardware and/or equivalent.
  • Professional, self-motivated, and dedicated to producing results in a timely manner.
  • Good communication with the team, management, and the rest of the organization.

PreferredExperience 

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, and TestStand.
  • Familiarity with PCB Fabrication and Layout (Altium preferred).
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD (CATIA preferred).

Compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, training, skillset, location, etc.  Expected hourly range in CA: Bachelors Program $25/hr - Masters Program - $35/hr.
