Overview

The Vehicle Test Engineer is responsible for designing vehicle level test procedures and creating judgment criteria to assess test results in order to validate vehicle design requirements. This position requires a talented engineer with passion for and experience with electric vehicles in a practical, multidisciplinary environment. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (80s of the Position) 

  • Design Vehicle Level Test Procedures and create Judgment Criteria to assess test results in order to validate Vehicle Design Requirements are met.
  • Plan and execute vehicle level dynamic and static test activities per test plans developed in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for retrieving, storing and analyzing logged data from tests and compare to design specifications.
  • Write detailed test reports recording subjective and objective findings and any issues.
  • Manage all open Concerns discovered on test with the responsible Design Engineers until a design countermeasure is achieved and plan for validation by retest, CAE simulation, or other means in order to close out open concerns.
  • Manage the vehicle validation process activities during the product design lifecycle from product concept to production launch and maintain critical path timing.
  • Provide input and engineering analysis to development teams.
  • Work efficiently and in close collaboration with hardware, software, and testing teams.

Qualifications

Required Experience 

  • BS in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a related engineering test role with prior experience in automotive testing and validation.
  • Knowledge of Battery Electric Vehicle architecture with detailed understanding of Powertrain, Battery, Chassis, Body, and 12Volt systems and an understanding of vehicle firmware.
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data acquisition software and data collection.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, displays a high level of maturity, ability to work as a member of a small nimble team, ability to work in a self-directed manner.

PreferredExperience  

  • MS degree in an engineering discipline
  • Data Analysis experience with VSignalyzer, MatLab, Python, etc.
  • Experience working at various test labs and facilities with broad test industry contacts.
  • Ability to understand the customer's needs and champion the “voice of the customer” when conducting vehicle tests.
  • Experience working with requirements management software (Polarion, DOORS, JAMA, etc).
  • Experience working within an Agile development framework & using relevant tools (e.g. JIRA).

Travel Requirements

  • The role will be based in Justin, TX and will require up to 50% travel.
