Overview

Lead a team to design and develop state of the art chassis controls systems, and their interactions with other vehicle systems, covering a variety of engineering tasks. From concept definition, system design, to calibration and validation, you will help us delivering innovative systems including: ABS/TCS/ESP,  industry-leading Steer-By-Wire, Brake-By-Wire and Tire-Pressure Monitoring technologies.

This Senior Manager position is an integral part of our chassis systems strategy and success. The accomplished individual must be results oriented and quality focused in managing their team to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction and business success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop chassis controls strategies from concept definition through design, calibration and validation phases.
  • Define and manage system and software requirements for chassis systems, including steering, brakes, stability control systems, regenerative brakes, EPB and TPMS.
  • Perform system validation, from development of test cases and DVP to supporting testing activities (on vehicle, bench, HIL etc.), coordinate execution of verification tests throughout program milestones including regulatory / homologation tests.
  • Lead the definition and completion of Functional Safety deliverables according to ISO26262 and Failure Mode Analysis.
  • Conduct issue investigation and root cause analysis, and manage open issues to closure.
  • Support the definition of diagnostic DTC’s, degradation strategies, warning / HMI, service routines, bootloader specifications.
  • Maintain system architecture, network design and interfaces with other vehicle subsystems, including ADAS and Powertrain, ensuring integration of chassis systems with other vehicle controllers.
  • Collaborate with the vehicle dynamics team to ensure vehicle performance targets are met.
  • Provide technical inputs to the legal and homologation teams.
  • Lead vehicle activities for chassis feature development and calibration, data logging and testing.
  • Support attribute definition, feature / vehicle behaviors definition, vehicle performance target setting.
  • Manage deliverables and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of software and relevant documentation, progress open issues to resolution, achieve roadworthiness / production sign-off meeting program milestones.
  • Lead development of new chassis controls features / new variants.
  • Manage team of engineers including: prioritization, workload, performance review, attendance, development including training plans - review, coach, and discipline as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Software/Controls Engineering or Equivalent.
  • 10 or more years’ experience of chassis systems development, including controls and calibration (Brakes, Stability Control Systems, Steering, EPB, or Suspension / Damping).
  • Organizational / leadership experience with excellent communication / interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Team management including recruitment, development and work prioritization based on competing and urgent needs of the business.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite.

 

PreferredExperience  

  • Understanding of global automotive homologation and legal / regulatory requirements for chassis systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics, ADAS, and EV powertrain.
  • Experience of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Failure Mode Analysis.
  • Experience in architecture / network definition for redundant Chassis systems, and integration for automotive application.
  • Experience with requirements development, change management and validation for safety critical Chassis Systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive diagnostic DTC’s, service routines, boot loader.
  • Experience with CAN-based tools for testing, data logging, feature calibration and issue investigation.
  • Valid driver’s license, performance driving license preferred such as a racing license, or test driver license from an automotive proving ground.
  • Supplier management for SW development and issue resolution.
  • Project management, Issue management, and root-cause analysis.

Salary will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, training, skillset, location, etc.  Expected salary range in CA – $156,200 - 195,300 annually
